Hesperocallis undulata

More commonly known as the Desert Lily, this plant, native the the extreme conditions of the SouthWest, is known for it’s highly fragrant trumpet shaped blooms that only appear after heavy rain and then quickly expire. In the undulating, scalloped leaves, it stores water to survive the high desert.

This sculpture was commissioned to commemorate one of the desert’s own favorite children.
